Cake, candy and cupcakes have been part of my personal iconography forever. When I want to have fun in my studio I paint sweet, sugary things -- and I went all the way with this one.
The title was inspired by a Wallace Stegner book, but the painting has more in common with the classic Burl Ives song "The Big Rock Candy Mountain."
