"The Importance of Being Girlish" is painted on a boxed frame. The painting wraps around the sides so the sides are painted, too.
My inspiration comes from fanciful dreams, fairy tales, theater and childhood.
In the painting, I hope to evoke feelings of joyfulness, fun and curiosity about the unexplained story. Most of all, I hope to provoke viewers to use their own imagination.
In the past, being a strong woman sometimes meant eschewing all things feminine. It's important to me to celebrate femininity, power and women in my paintings.
