I was inspired by Russian icon painting and wanted to give the Greek Goddess Gaia -- Mother Earth and the goddess of all Life -- the same treatment as the icon painters gave the Madonna . I created this collage with prints of my own drawings and paintings as well as sequins, beads, wrapping paper, foil, and cellophane.
The main piece inside the matte is 9.5" x 7.5" but the piece extends onto the matte. Here is a close-up:
