When I found this frame, I knew that I wanted to make a colorful, fun, patterned art work using recycled and abandoned materials, that would suggest a mandala or an Indian rug. The background is made entirely of candy wrappers.
Most of the materials — fabric scraps, buttons, beads, bows, and cardboard cutouts — are left over from my previous art projects: The mosaic and glass embellishments are from a mosaic I created for the Lower Eastside Girls Club. I planned to use the metal charms (now covered with green glass beads) as a clasp for an art book project but went with something else instead. The velvet ribbon and fabric flowers are from my box of fairy tea party supplies.
