This painting is the result of many years of thought and revisions.
When I began the painting I was listening to the band "The Decemberists" incessantly. Before I realized it, people from around the globe were parading into the center of the round painting, so I had to add a tiny baby Infanta.
Here's the first verse of "The Infanta" on the Decemberists album "Picaresque":
Here she comes in her palanquin on the back of an elephant on a bed made of linen and sequins and silk. All astride on her father's line with the king and his concubines and her nurse with her pitchers of liquors and milk. And we'll all come praise the infanta. And we'll all come praise the infanta.
