Stairway to Wonder

This painting began during a break from a larger commissioned piece about pilgrimage — journeys were already on my mind, and I hummed Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" as I worked. A path and a stairway appear alongside a pink river.  The mossy stone stairs ascend  from tangled dense rootedness into something open, luminous, and unknown. The wonder is implied by a glow at the top of the stairs, a threshold you never fully arrive at, with transcendence just out of view.
