Made entirely from found and recycled materials, this crazy quilt collage traces the cross-country flight of Nabokov’s Lolita, with crisscrossing gold trim mapping the road trip of Humbert Humbert, Dolores Haze and the clearly guilty Clare Quilty. Candy wrappers, a “Toy Surprise” token, text from the novel, and vintage paper cutout dolls bring girlish color to a dark story. At the center, a veiled figure framed in floral ribbon suggests a childhood stolen.
